Adding a background image to your email message (instead of just a background colour) is a great way to add that something extra to your email design. In this guide, we'll take a look at how to set this up.
Email clients vary in their level of support for background images. If you are using a background image, it is recommended that you run an Inbox Test to preview how the email will display in different clients. You should also apply a background colour (also explained below) to ensure that the content of your email is readable even if the background image isn't shown.
How-to Guide
Add a Background Image To an Email
- Select Messages from the sidebar and open your email message for editing.
- Select the Design tab from the right hand side panel.
- Expand the Email Body & Background panel.
- Click Select Image in the Background Image section (as shown) to open the Files & Images manager and upload or select your desired background image.
- Once you've selected your desired image from the Files & Images manager, click to return to the email builder. Your email will now have a background image set.
- You can optionally enable to Tiled checkbox to tile the image, if suitable.
Add a Background Colour To an Email
As email clients vary in their level of support for background images, we recommend setting a background colour to suit your email - as this will be the fallback for non-supported clients. If your background image is light, use a light fallback colour. If dark, use a dark background colour fallback.
- Select Messages from the sidebar and open your email message for editing.
- Select the Design tab from the right hand side panel.
- Expand the Email Body & Background panel.
- Set your desired colour in the Background Colour section, as shown.
