Support for Single Sign-on (SSO) is currently in beta. If you're interested in taking part, please get in touch with our Support team.
Details
Single Sign-on (referred to as 'SSO' from now on) is an authentication scheme that allows a user to log in with a single ID to any of several related, yet independent, software systems. Vision6 now supports SSO to allow users to log in to accounts within our platform.
Our SSO implementation is based on the SAML2 (Security Assertion Markup Language 2.0) protocol, which facilitates secure communication between the identity provider and the service provider.
Further, our SSO implementation is domain-based, meaning that SAML providers are tied to the domain of the user's email address. This ensures that users can only authenticate using SAML providers associated with their respective domains.
How-to Guide
Initial Setup
Please ask your System Administrator (or someone from your IT team) to contact our support team to have SSO enabled on your account. Your IT person will need to provide us with your Vision6 account ID.
As part of this setup process, our team will work with your IT person to configure the identity provider details, attribute maps, metadata URLs and so on.
Login Using SSO
Once the setup process is complete, you and your colleagues can log into our platform using SSO.
- At the Vision6 login screen (https://login.vision6.com), click the Log in with SSO link.
- Enter the email address associated with your Vision6 user.
- Our system will check to see if your email domain has a SSO configuration attached. If it does, a SAML request will be made to the identity provider. Log in to the identity provider if required.
- Upon successful login, the browser will redirect you back to the Vision6 platform where you can continue to work as normal.
