What Is an Active Device?
An Active Device is a device, such as a phone or computer, which is currently (or was recently) logged into your profile; we call this a "session". The Active Devices section of our platform allows you to view details of these devices, to make sure no one else has signed in to your profile.
You can have multiple sessions on one device. For example, if you log into our system from the same computer using two different web browsers (or something similar), this would create two sessions for that device.
What Is a Session?
A session is a period of time during which you’re signed in to your profile from a browser, app, or service on the device. A separate session can be created on the device:
- When you sign in on a new device
- When you sign in on a new browser, app, or service
- When you sign in on an incognito or private browser window.
For your security, our system will display each session associated with your profile, to allow you to review its details and sign out of it if you’re not sure it’s yours. We recommend that you end sessions where you don't recognise the device, or have lost access to it.
How-to Guide
Use this guide to review & manage active devices.
- Log into our platform.
- Click the coloured circle at the top-right corner and click .
- Select Active Devices. You'll now see devices where you’re currently signed in to your Profile (or have been in the last few weeks).
- If you're not sure about any of the sessions you see, click to end that session. The device responsible for that session will now be forced to log in again, should they wish to continue. If the system indicates that you're logged into more than one other sessions, you can click to end every session other than the one you're using right now.
