How-to Guide
There are a few reasons your email's appearance may differ from the preview window. The following steps will help you fix the cause of the majority of these issues, however if you're still having issues get in touch with our support team so we can assist you with troubleshooting.
Remove additional line-breaks
Sometimes extra line-breaks can make their way into your email, especially if you are copy and pasting content. The easiest way to remove any extra line-breaks is to edit each text or paragraph component in your email, place your cursor wherever you see extra space, and hit the backspace key on your keyboard.
Minimise Bottom Space
Sometimes spaces appear in your email because there is a bit of bottom spacing applied to your component. Here's some information on removing the bottom spacing...
- Open your email for editing.
- Click on a component to highlight it & open the Settings panel to the right side.
- Reduce the Bottom Space setting, as shown.
- Repeat this process for all the components in your email.
- Save your changes & re-test.
Set a Column Colour
If your email uses a multi-column layout, the lack of a column colour can sometimes cause white spaces to appear underneath a column. Here's some information on setting the column colour...
- Open your email for editing.
- Click on the component that forms part of a column, to highlight it.
- Open the Advanced panel to the right side.
- Set the Column Colour to be the same colour as the background colour used on the component. In other words, if your component has a grey background, then set the column colour to the same grey.
- Repeat this process for all the components (that are in a column) in your email.
- Save your changes & re-test.
Gaps in Outlook
Have you tried everything above but still finding gaps in your email when it's sent? If you're using Outlook, it could be an issue with Outlook, rather than your email.
Outlook generally use the Microsoft Word engine to process and display emails. This can make for some rather unique issues in email formatting. One of these is that Outlook will sometimes insert a 'page-break' gap, similar to where a page-break would naturally occur in Microsoft Word.
Common Issues With Microsoft Outlook
In particular, this happens for components in your email that are over 1700 pixels in height. Not sure how tall your component is? You can easily find out!
- Open your email for editing.
- Click on a component to highlight it & open the Advanced Settings panel to the right side.
- Look at the height attribute. If the height is 1700px or above, split the content into two separate components, so that each component is less than 1700px high.
- Save your changes & re-test.
