When uploading contacts with mobile phone numbers, the following mobile phone number formats in your CSV are valid and will be accepted by the system.
- 0421031008
- 0421-031-008
- 0421 031 008
- 61421031008
- +61421031008
The following formats are invalid:
- +6442103100800 - There are too many numbers
- 0442103100800 - Again, there are too many numbers
Any numbers that start with a zero will automatically be given a +61 prefix at the time of import. For example, if the number in your import file is 0400123123, it will be uploaded as +61400123123.
If your contact is not based in Australia, be sure to include the country code in the data you're importing. For example, ensure 64 or +64 is at the start of your number for a contact in New Zealand.
If your number does not start with a zero, a "+" will be added to the start at the time of import. So if the number in your import file is 400123123, then it will be imported as +400123123, which is likely an invalid number because the country code is missing.
As such, always make sure your mobile numbers in the import file start either:
A) start with the country code, or...
B) start with a zero (in which case our system will automatically add the +61 for Australia).
Is Microsoft Excel stripping zero's from the front of your numbers? See our guide on fixing that.
