Not every domain in your account may be editable. There can be a few reasons why the system will not allow you to edit your domain, the most common causes and the steps to take are listed below.
Your domain is a shared domain and cannot be edited by your account
Your account is a sub-account in a corporate or agency structure. Your parent account has shared this domain with you to allow you to send authenticated emails. When you have a shared domain in your account there are a few limitations as to what can be edited. These include:
- Accessing the advanced settings
- Editing the hostname record
- Sharing the domain record
- Deleting the domain record
If you wish to edit this domain record in any way you should contact your parent account who will be able to assist you with this. Although you are unable to edit a shared domain, you are able to add and configure new domains if you send from multiple.
Your domain must be configured before it is shared
In order to share your domain with your sub-accounts, you must first configure the DKIM and domain validation records. Once those two records are set up, you will have the ability to share your domain
You can read more about what these records are and how to set them up here. If you require any assistance in understanding what these records are or how to implement them please contact support.
