As an email sender you would like your campaigns to reliably land in the users inbox, and if you are a receipt of these campaigns and you want to make sure the campaigns end up in your inbox, there's a simple way to achieve this. It is a quick one time only task by simply add the user to your Address book or Safe Sender List, sometimes known as whitelisting the companies email address.
Here are simple instructions on how to ensure that future emails get delivered straight to your inbox, in some of the most popular email clients:
- Apple Mail
- Outlook 20xx
- Outlook.com
- Yahoo! Mail
- Gmail (Web and mobile)
- Android (Default client)
- Windows Live Desktop
Apple Mail
In Apple Mail you can select the From, or Reply-to on an email message, and you can choose to “Add to Contacts”, or “Add to VIPs”. By adding the contact to the "Add to VIPs" mailbox, all future emails from that sender will be sent to a separate mail folder that allows users to quickly see what they deem to be the most important emails.
Outlook 20xx
In Outlook, when you open an email from a sender, an alert at the header of the message should display, “Click here to download pictures…”. Click this and select, “Add Sender to Safe Senders list”:
Outlook.com
With Outlook.com, when you open an email message, an alert message should display with, “Parts of this message have been blocked for your safety.” Underneath this, click the link with, “I trust sender@domain.com. Always show content”:
Yahoo! Mail
When using Yahoo to open an email message, hover over the "the sender’s name". Click on the 3 dots icon in the lower left hand corner, and the “Add to contacts” should appear. Click “Save”:
Gmail (Web and mobile)
Getting all future emails from a sender to appear in the “Primary” tab (instead of “Promotions”, or elsewhere) is a quick, two-step process. First of all, drag-and-drop the email message from beneath the tab it’s currently filed under, to the “Primary” tab:
Once done, a message alert will appear with, “This conversation has been moved to Primary. Do this for all future messages from sender@theirdomain.com?”. Select “Yes”:
When using Gmail on a mobile device, it doesn’t allow you a way to prioritize messages. However, touching “Show images”, then selecting the “Always show images from Sender” will ensure that images always display in the inbox.
Android (Default mail client)
Open the email message on your Android device and touch the picture of the sender, and then touch “Add to Contacts”.
Windows Live Desktop
After opening an email message an alert in the preview pane with, “Some images in this message are not shown.” will display. Click the link, “Add to Safe Senders list”.
Linking to these instructions
To ensure that your email campaigns are delivered straight to the inbox for your clients, many email senders like to link safe sender instructions from their email campaigns. A common approach is to add a short message to your email content, such as, “To keep receiving emails from us, please add us to your address book”. Here’s the code you can use to link this guide to your emails:
<p>To keep receiving emails from us, <a href="https://https://support.vision6.com.au/hc/en-us/articles/231453308/"> please add us to your address book</a>.</p>
