The Link Report is a great tool to compare link popularity across your email message. To see the Link Report, select Reporting from the sidebar, open your desired email report, then select the Links tab along the top.
Some links cannot be tracked - such as plain text links and mailto / email links.
What Do the Numbers Mean?
There are three ways links can be clicked: By a contact who received the email in their inbox, By a contact that received your email in their inbox and then went to view their specific 'online' version of the email (a personalised link that's unique to them), and finally By unknown people who view the generic public version of the email (a generic 'online' link to the email).
Clicks from known contacts viewing their unique 'online' version of the email are included in these statistics. Clicks from unknown people (ie. people that view the generic 'online' version of the email and click on links) ARE also included here, as this report is not contact-specific. Because of this, some of the figures on this report will not match the Email Click Map Report.
- Coloured lines: Each link on the report has a grey and blue line. The grey line represents total clicks, whereas the blue line represents unique clicks. So if a single person clicked one of your links 8 times, then this would attribute 8 towards the grey (total clicks) line, but would only attribute 1 towards the blue (unique clicks) line.
- Clicks out of total clicks (grey line): This first number for the grey line represents the total number of clicks on this particular link. The second number for the grey line represents the total number of clicks across all links in your entire email.
If we take the allrecipes.com link in our screenshot above, you can see that it was clicked on 12 times and that the entire email had 77 clicks recorded. If you look at the same link on our Email Click Map Report example (excerpt included below), you will notice that it's showing different figures. This is because, as per the note above, the Link Report includes clicks that came from people who viewed the generic 'online' version of the email whereas the Click Map Report does not. - Unique clicks out of total unique clicks (blue line): This first number for the blue line represents the total number of unique clicks on this particular link. The second number for the blue line represents the total number of unique clicks across your entire email.
If we take the allrecipes.com link in our screenshot above, you can see that it was clicked on 7 times and that the entire email had 12 unique clicks recorded.
