Why use a Virtual Host? Follow

A virtual host is a method by which multiple domains can be handled by a single web server without the infrastructure required for each domain.

When applied to an account, a virtual host affects the URLs used for image hosting and links for that account.  An example would be as follows :

No virtual host

Image hosting / link URLs would be generic to the system -

http://www.emailsystem.com/images/image.png

http://www.emailsystem.com/pages/page.html

With a virtual host :

If you have your own domain, you can create a 'sub-domain' to be used for the virtual host.

eg. Domain = www.yourcompany.com

sub-domain set up for use as the virtual host = emails.yourcompany.com

Image hosting and links will now appear as -

http://emails.yourcompany.com/images/image.png

http://emails.yourcompany.com/pages/page.html

Using a virtual host is a good way to have your URLs appear as your own hosting as opposed to the default system URLs.

Virtual hosts are available for our Pro-Marketer plan and Agency accounts.
