Old message details showing in social update Follow

Are you posting your emails to social media, but having a problem where last month's information is showing instead of the new details? This article will explain how to trouble shoot this problem.

Part 1: Update to correct details

  1. Go to Messages in your email marketing account.
  2. Select the message you want to post to social.
  3. Choose Edit from the Actions menu at the bottom of the screen.
  4. Once the email editor is open, click the Social tab at the top of the editor.
  5. Make sure all details are correct for the current edition of your newsletter.
  6. Go back to the Designer tab of the message editor.
  7. On the right side of the screen, click the Design menu.

  8. Find the View Online Title field.
  9. Make sure the title in that field reflects the details of your current newsletter edition.
  10. Click the green Save button in the top right corner to save any changes.

Part 2: Save a new message

  1. Go to Messages and edit your message (see steps above if you need instructions on how to edit).
  2. Next to the Save button in the top right corner of the editor, click the little arrow.
  3. Choose the option Save As New.
  4. Complete the save.

Part 3: Test the social update

  1. Go to Messages in your email marketing account.
  2. Select the newly saved message.
  3. Choose Preview from the Actions menu at the bottom of the screen.
  4. Highlight and copy the Online URL from the preview screen (underneath the subject line).
  5. Go to your own Facebook account.
  6. Paste the Online URL you copied into your status update box and wait for the preview to load.
  7. Confirm that the preview now shows the correct message information.

Once you have completed parts 1 - 3 above, you are ready to post your message to social media. If you need a refresher on how to do this, we recommend watching our Social Messaging training session, which runs for 18 minutes.
